N2 - This research investigates how Tam-giao metaphors have been used in Vietnamese visual art to portray the fundamental transformation in the Vietnamese environment which is related to the Global Anthropocene. The research proposes that rapid urbanization not only changes the climate but also creates change in social and individual identity. The research, based on the author’s interviews with Vietnamese artists and scholars, reveals how the Global Anthropocene has impacted upon and changed Vietnamese environment, society and individuals, and observes how global digital business has contributed to this since 2005. A discussion of artists, Le Quang Ha, Dinh Thi Tham Poong, Nguyen Manh Hung and Nguyen Thai Son shows the impacts of the Global Anthropocene on the local environment. An examination of Ly Tran Quynh Giang’s and Nguyen Huy Thong’s artworks reveals how the Anthropocene impacts Vietnam's future generations.
