Abstract

[Truncated abstract] There have been limited studies that investigated the relationships between variations in milk composition and milk production despite reports of wide variations in both composition and production between mothers with preterm infants. To this end I investigated these relationships during the first two weeks postpartum and from days 15 to 57 postpartum (established lactation). Samples for Chapters 2‐4 were obtained from a study conducted by Stanford University whereby milk samples were collected together with the milk production data from mothers with preterm infants from days one to 57 postpartum.
