Abstract
The ideal cartilage repair technology ought to be simple and fairly cheap, and it should use cellular tissue from tissue banks and, possibly, stem cells in the future. It should involve transarthroscopic delivery and injectable chondroglues. Optimum cartilage repair techniques can only be developed through teamwork between surgeons, engineers and cell biologists, such as those involved in the Swedish team that developed ACI-P.
