Abstract
Innovation is critical for SME survival and growth. However, extant research focuses mainly on large firms in developed economies. This thesis investigates how product innovation success and innovation speed are influenced by innovation champions' qualities within industrial SMEs in Saudi Arabia.
Using a mixed-method research design, this thesis contributes to the current understanding of effective innovation characteristics, innovation teams, and innovation speed within an Arab world context. Particularly, team members' perception of innovation champions' level of Ehsan, Wasta, and power significantly impact innovation team behaviour and innovation speed which also improves product innovation success.
