Abstract

Measurements were made of the electrical quality factor in 'whispering gallery' modes of a cylindrical, high purity single crystal sapphire dielectric resonator. A Q-factor of 8.3 x 10(9) at 1.6 K for a mode at 12.7 GHz is reported.
