Abstract
A review of the retrospective exhibition of Toba Khedoori, born Sydney 1964, held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Fine Art and the Perez Art Museum, Miami in 2016 and 2017. Khedoori a resident of Los Angeles since 1990 was the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship (2002), the only Australian visual artist to receive this prestigious five-year endowment, known colloquially as a 'Genius Grant.' This article discusses her large scale works on paper and paintings to analyse Khedoori's unique ability to link image, object, process and materiality to record time and render the commonplace world of everyday objects mesmerizing.
