Abstract

This study is based upon Thinking Science school program, which consists of a series of 30 lessons delivered through science activities to Year 7 and 8 students. Teachers who deliver this program undertake six formal professional development days, which encompass the Thinking Science professional development (TS PD) program. The aim of this qualitative study was to understand teacher perspectives on the impact of the TS PD program on their professional growth. Dominant themes that have arisen include the importance of teachers implementing thinking strategies, transfer of the pedagogy, development of questioning techniques and the importance of positive relationships with students.
