abstract = "Many parts of the national road of Salubatu - Mambi cross along hilly areas with quite tall and steep roadside slopes. Such these slopes usually have difficulties and insufficient areas to be cut and filled on the roadside for slope stabilization purposes. Soil nailing is a technique of the slope reinforcement suitable for this typical site. This research aimed to design soil nailing for the roadside slope reinforcement. In order to achieve the research objective, topographic survey and soil investigation were performed on the site. Numerical analysis using the PLAXIS Software was carried out based on data obtained from the site investigation to figure out tensile strength of the soil nailing for resisting the slope from failure. The research resulted in nail bar, as a main part of the soil nailing, 25 mm in diameter and 7 m in length with 1.5 m and 1.2 m in vertical and horizontal spaces respectively. The use of soil nailing increased safety factor in slope stability from 1.034 (fail) for existing roadside slope to 1.970 (safe) for the roadside slope with soil nailing reinforcement.",
