Abstract

This thesis is presented as a series of papers, aiming to implement, assess, and further understand the use of exercise programs on-campus to support university students experiencing mental health challenges. The thesis is mixed-methods design and includes three studies. Firstly, a quantitative study exploring the feasibility and preliminary efficacy of an exercise program supporting UWA students experiencing mental illness. A second quantitative study exploring the associations between exercise enjoyment and session characteristics, and health outcomes. And, a final qualitative study using thematic analysis to explore the in-program and post-program transition experiences of participants who had completed the Stride program
