Abstract

Technology adoption is vital in improving the efficiencies of asset management value chains. However, technology adoption can be impacted by the type of asset or jurisdictional boundaries. Due to these underlying conditions, understanding technology and its characteristics are vital. This research includes three studies to help understand blockchain technology. The first study is a systematic literature review, presenting an outlook of the literature. Following this, our first qualitative study builds an understanding of blockchain for non-native assets, i.e. assets that exist outside the blockchain. Finally, a case study analyses the impact of blockchain adoption in the marine bunkering industry.
