Abstract
Despite the importance of public health actions, not much is known about the people who undertake public health education, the people who have public health occupations, and the intersection of these two groups. This thesis presents research related to the supply of public health students and the demand for public health work in Australia, finding a strong growth of public health students, but a slower growth in job demand. National planning should be explicit about the role of public health workers, to aid the balance of supply and demand.
