Abstract

This thesis project investigated the association between untreated hearing loss and mood, psychosocial well-being, and cognitive decline in Chinese Mandarin-speaking older adults, by adopting a non-verbal cognitive assessment tool in a cross-sectional and longitudinal design. A survey study with hearing health professionals’ knowledge, attitudes and practices was also conducted to investigate the potential gaps regarding the provision of services to clients with hearing loss and the risk of cognitive impairment or dementia.
