Abstract
This dissertation analyses the way in which contemporary speculative philosophy exemplified by the project of Quentin Meillassoux corresponds to the emergence of a novel figure of the inhuman in response to the broader cultural and technological context of the posthuman condition. Insofar as speculative philosophy is defined by variable commitments to realist and materialist philosophical frameworks, the argument follows that speculative philosophy is a program for posthumanist theory and artistic practice that seeks to find new ways to represent, encourage, disassemble and revise the boundary project of the human concept.
