Abstract
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has been notifiable in Western Australia since 1985. This article reviews the notification data from 1994 to 1997, focusing on increases in MRSA notifications and the proportion that are local strains; changes in the geographical distribution of MRSA; and changes in antibiotic-resistance patterns (Infect Control Hosp Epidemiol 1999;20:133-135).
