Abstract

Peculiar velocities provide an excellent way to test cosmology. In this thesis, we present new cosmological constraints using peculiar velocities measured with 2MTF, 6dFGSv and CF3 data. Firstly, we develop and use a new estimator to measure the 'dipole and the quadrupole of the peculiar velocity field. Our results are consistent with the predictions of the L cold dark matter model (LCDM). Additionally, we develop a new estimator for the momentum power spectrum to place constraints on the growth rate. This result is also consistent with the LCDM prediction.
