Abstract

The laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy procedure has become the primary method for weight loss surgery globally. However, there is currently a lack of standardized training or assessment for this procedure. This thesis introduces a consensus-driven curricular template using the Delphi methodology. The aim is to facilitate the training of novice surgeons and provide a framework for assessing proficiency. By establishing a standardized approach, the thesis outlines the critical elements of training necessary to perform a sleeve gastrectomy. It includes curricular development, and the creation of a validated simulator, with an extension toward assessment for that can be adapted for future procedures.
