Abstract

In this final chapter, we synthesise key lessons learnt from practical experiences addressing climate risks to water security across the Asia Pacific. While concerns for climate change impacts are clearly growing, policy responses must further embrace the multi-sectoral and cross-scalar nature of risks to water security. In the various socioecological zones, experiences in addressing water management challenges are often ahead of national policy directions or climate risks assessments. From these examples we see potential in advancing an approach centred on socio-ecological zones-based responses to climate risks to water security. Continued efforts to identify practical examples that are working locally but remain neglected at other levels and scales are recommended. There is a need to better support, learn from, and share those experiences to support others addressing the climate-related challenges and opportunities before them.
