This thesis is concerned with the synthesized and characterisation of 2D mesoporous MFI zeolites for catalysis. The study has successfully produced nanosheet-based MFI zeolites with controllable mesoporosity and a broad range of acidity. The systematic study has revealed key synthesis parameters in controlling the formation, structural properties and acidity of the resulted zeolites, established ternary Si02-AI015-NaOH composition domains for synthesis of optimised mesoporous structure with Si/AI ranging from 15-87, demonstrated the ability to further control mesoporosity through manipulating precursor cations/anions. These mesoporous MFI zeolites have also demonstrated superior catalytic performances due to the much improved accessibility to their acid sites.
