Abstract

Recent studies on gold recovery using alkaline glycine as an environmentally friendly lixiviant are gaining increasing acceptance by the mining industry. In this study, the behaviour of glycine in aqueous solution is investigated. Thermodynamic data of monovalent metal-glycinate for most of precious metals including gold have been estimated. The potential of environmentally friendly glycine in the in-situ leaching of gold has been investigated by employing a microfluidic system with controlled flow, temperature and fluid composition. In particular, electrokinetic in-situ leaching (EK-ISL) has been evaluated for gold using alkaline-glycine.
