Space Infrastructures and Networks of Control and Care

Research output: Chapter in Book/Conference paperChapterpeer-review

Abstract

Various beings and things have left Earth, often never to return. Great efforts are taken to keep them safe and sound amidst the perils of space. From their departures to the end of their missions, they are encased within extensive infrastructures of ground and in-situ support, relying upon intricate arrangements of technical apparatus, precise logistic protocols, and pools of expert labour. The precarious circumstances of these space envoys propel the evolution of more-than-planetary networks of control and care, conditioning the manners and means by which human societies pursue their prospects out there.
