Show & Tell: UWA Library's Information Literacy Skills Toolkit and metadata repository

Research output: Contribution to conferenceConference presentation/ephemera

Abstract

UWA has created and collated a library of "learning objects" designed to build students' skills in different areas of information literacy. These include finding information (e.g. search strategy and using specialty databases, including STEM databases), evaluating sources and referencing in UWA's six supported styles.

Unit coordinators embed these objects into their LMS as standalone resources or combined to create learning pathways. They can also be used in conjunction with information literacy sessions delivered by librarians.

The objects are presented in a variety of formats including videos, interactive H5P modules, checklists, infographics, and library guides.

Metadata for the objects is stored in a SharePoint repository and includes information such as the object's owner, licence type, description, modal ID and date of last review.
