Abstract

A concert dedicated to the vinyl record – as a sound source, musical instrument and score. The program featured three new world premieres including Ryan Ross Smith Study No 52, and a new ‘Difficult Commission’ by Annika Moses.
Reworkings of established works using modern turntables and animated notational formats were also presented: Milan Knížák, Chris De Groot, Cat Hope, Lindsay Vickery and The Velvet Underground. Artistic research focussed on integration of acoustic and electronic instruments using record as part of the ensemble, performance practice of turntables for notated music.
