Remanence Enhancement in Mechanically alloyed Isotropic Sm7Fe93 Nitride

    Abstract

    The structure and properties of mechanically alloyed, heat treated and nitrided Fe-Sm powders containing 7 at% Sm have been studied. After heat treatment and nitriding the structure consisted of an isotropic two phase mixture of alpha-Fe and Sm2Fe17Nx. Remanence enhancement was observed. The highest measured value of energy product (BH)max was 26 MGOe.
