Abstract

The study aimed to provide an update on dental caries and dental care utilization; to assess accessibility, and develop a model for school dental services (SDS). Data from 1,000 school children aged 9–12 years old from a cross-sectional oral health survey was analysed. Examination of services accessibility and SDS theoretical model were conducted. Caries prevalence was 85.1%, with untreated caries at 76.1% and 9.2% reported regular dental visits. Future locations for SDS were studies in the theoretical model. Caries persists as a public health challenge with low dental care utilization. SDS is suggested as a solution to this health problem.
