Abstract
The purpose of the research presented within this thesis was to gain a better understanding of the nature and implications of relatedness-supportive teaching within high-school physical education (PE). More specifically, the studies presented within this thesis describe work aimed at identifying, measuring, and training relatedness-supportive teacher practices. Overall, this body of work advances our understanding of relatedness-supportive teaching within PE, and provides important practical insight into the promotion of need-supportive interpersonal climates.
