Abstract

3D concrete printing is expected to revolutionize the conventional construction techniques toward intelligence, automation and individualized customization. However, effective reinforcing measure for 3D printed concrete is lacking. This research develops and investigates the behaviours of the printed concrete reinforced with steel wire mesh and the printed jackets-reinforced concrete. The results signify that the first reinforcement method has significant impacts on the flexural behaviours and the shear behaviours of the printed concrete. Furthermore, the results of the second reinforcement method indicate that it improves the mechanical performance to a certain extent from the material level rather than the structural level.
