Abstract

Carbon ligand transfer: Compound 1 is formed with reactive metal–ligand fragments generated from Group 4 metallocene compounds. Dropwise addition of ethanolic HCl to a solution of complex 1 in toluene affords complex 2 in a carbon–carbon bond-forming transformation that is thought to be unprecedented.
