Abstract

This thesis considers why great powers pursue foreign infrastructure initiatives, how they implement them, and what effects they have on the international system. Utilising a neoclassical realist approach, this thesis considers the examples of the United States from 1940-53 and the People's Republic of China from 2008-22.
