Abstract
Producing popular works for a convincing performance for Brass Band is a difficult task. Popular music tends to be text based, and often based on repetitive, simple melodies. Providing a positive performance for the audience also is difficulty; without the special effects and “star” of the original, the task of organising a range of short, sharp performances of these works that are well received by the public is a difficult task.
This series of performances of works arranged for Brass Band occurred on the Main Stage of the Western Australian Perth Royal Show, and reached an audience in excess of 110,000 people.
