Abstract

This research presents an empirical investigation into the perceptions of project success criteria (PSC) for chemical and petrochemical mega-projects and builds on previous research to present a project success model specifically for this industry. The first hypothesis that three constructs contribute in a positive way to overall project success is supported. The second hypothesis that different stakeholders on a project have different perspectives of a project is not fully supported. The main managerial implication is the need for a common perception of success to align internal stakeholder goals at the project's outset, which improves the chances of project success.
