Abstract

The current thesis explored the typical outcomes following mTBI, such as global symptoms, objective neurocognitive functioning, and mood and behavioral outcomes, and evaluated factors that predict outcome and recovery. Participants were assessed within 10 days of injury, and again three-months post-injury to determine recovery. Comparisons were made between younger children (aged 6-10) and adolescents (aged 11-16), and also sex (males and females), to investigate whether there are differences between groups. This thesis made a significant contribution to the field of mTBI by enhancing our understanding of the varied post-injury outcomes, the factors that predict outcome, and differences between demographic subgroups.
