A theoretical model of water waves washing over the surface of a floating thin elastic plates is proposed. Coupled linear potential flow and thin-plate theories are used to force the overwash. Nonlinear shallow water theory is used to model the overwash. Model predictions of the overwash depth are compared against measurements from laboratory wave tank experiments.
