Abstract

This summary report captures workshop activities, discussions and Co-Investigator recommendations for the ORCHID family-centred diabetes in pregnancy self-management program (the ORCHID Program). Based on community feedback the term diabetes in pregnancy has been used, rather than gestational diabetes or it’s abbreviation GDM.
The data informing this summary include notes taken by ORCHID researcher scribes, information collected on whiteboards and facilitator notes.
The data has been organised and categorised based on three ORCHID topics presented at the workshop: Diagnosis; Knowledge and Education; and Management. These were three of ten topics identified during thematic analysis of research yarns with women who had gestational diabetes and family members, and health providers.
Data pertaining to discussions not directly related to these three topics were summarised under the category of General (within the scope of the ORCHID Program) or Advocacy (beyond the scope of the ORCHID Program).
