Abstract

[1] Estimating the confidence interval of a variable or anaggregate of any type of variables is an essential part ofscientific activity. It is equally important to ensure that theappropriate, correct statistical measure is used. I discoveredinaccuracies in the derivation of a one-norm misfit measurewidely used in geophysics and show the exact derivation.
