Abstract
The future of cartilage repair has several alternative pathways. The aim is to achieve perfect tissue repair and for this it is necessary to understand the events and genes that control fetal development and adult regeneration of tissue and to understand why cartilage is unable to repair. Without such understanding, it will be easy to design a future treatment based on wrong assumptions.
