Abstract

Two new eudesmane sesquiterpenes have been isolated from Eremophila spectabilis subsp. brevis. The structures of 6 beta-hydroxy-7 alpha(H)-eudesm-4-en-3-one (1) and 7 alpha(H)-eudesm-4(15)-ene-3 alpha,6 beta-diol (2) were elucidated by spectroscopic studies, and that of (1) was confirmed by a single-crystal room-temperature X-ray study. Crystals of (1) are monoclinic, P21, a 11.302(6), b 9.99(1), c 13.487(6) Angstrom, beta 108.45(4), Z = 4; R was 0.052 for 2340 independent 'observed' (I > 3 sigma(I)) diffractometer reflections.
