More-than-human: Exploring everyday actions to adopt nature into our backyards

Research output: Non-traditional research outputExhibition

Abstract

At the beginning of the 2023 year, UWA School of Design approached the Town of Victoria Park as the Town's Bush Forever site – Jirdarup Bushland Precinct – was chosen as a hypothetical site for students to consider the more-than-human inhabitants of the bushland. Students researched there a specific more-than-human; an endemic animal, reptile or bird species. Then, they explored a suburb retrofit to support this inhabitant within the Town, whilst balancing the human requirements of the area.

The result of that research and studio work has provided the Town with insights and opportunities to engage our teams and community in strengthening the sustainable outcomes of the Victoria Park Urban Forest program. This exhibition highlights those insights alongside the student work.
