Abstract

An investigation of the genetic diversity of Neisseria meningitidis circulating in Western Australia over a 15-year period used whole genome sequencing to predict the coverage of the serogroup B recombinant vaccine, Bexsero®, and provide information on the temporal variation of the vaccine coverage. Furthermore, the antigenic diversity of meningococci circulating in Western Australia was compared to those circulating in Victoria over a 5-year period. Lastly, resistance to penicillin was investigated in the serogroup W N. meningitidis belonging to the cc11 lineage, identified in Western Australia.
