Abstract

Approximately 3.9 billion people, living in more than 120 tropical and subtropical countries, are at risk of becoming infected with three major arboviruses: dengue virus (DENV), chikungunya virus (CHIKV) and Zika virus (ZIKV). This thesis provides critical insight into molecular epidemiology and public health aspects of dengue, chikungunya and Zika in Indonesia with focus on current circulating viruses, natural history, movements to neighbouring countries, community participation on disease prevention and support on arbovirus research.
