Abstract
An essay is presented on tourism in Indochina. It examines how the Continental Hotel in Saigon established a site where discourses of colonialism, leisure and modernity that supported Euporean modernity and identity in a foreign land. This hotel continues to represent Western imperialism as it supports ethnocentric attitudes towards the local people.
