Minimisation of food waste and labelling regulation

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Reflects on the scale of food waste in Europe and North America, and how modifications to date-labelling on foodstuffs might reduce the problem. Reviews the date labelling regimes of Australia, the EU and the UK, and details legislation potentially implying food waste: (1) generation; (2) management; (3) reduction; and (4) optimisation. Suggests how food labelling reforms may reduce consumer confusion and unnecessary waste.
