Abstract

This major new five-movement work (Mementi) composed in late 2020 is an assortment of five pieces for saxophone, percussion and piano The title (a faux pluralisation of the word ‘memento’) represents those jars you find in most households filled with trivial and mundane items that seemingly don’t belong anywhere, but at the same time can’t be discarded. Sometimes, in these bits and pieces you might discover something that had been lost for ages and the sense of euphoria in this ‘re-discovery’ is palpable.
