Abstract

Marcel Duchamp's brothers Jacques Villon and Raymond Duchamp Villon renamed themselves after the cheeky medieval poet Francois Villon. They were key in the formation of Marcel's ideas. Despite this there are to date no studies of Francois Villon's work and its relation to Marcel Duchamp. this in depth study reveals surprising correlations both in attitude and method. It discusses Duchamp's use of linguistic nuance clearly.
