    Abstract

The magnetic properties of submicron circular epitaxial Co dot arrays fabricated by electron beam lithography have been studied as a function of thickness using high resolution magnetic force microscopy. As a function of thickness, in-plane single domain, vortex, or perpendicular multidomain phases have been identified. The evolution of the domain structures with dot thickness agrees well with theory. (C) 2000 American Institute of Physics. [S0021-8979(00)37208-5].
