Abstract

This PhD project delivers an accurate and reliable experimental boil-off gas (BOG) and weathering data that can ultimately be utilised to anchor simulations of BOG rates for cryogenic liquefied natural gas (LNG) mixtures, and to validate non-equilibrium weathering models. Additionally, in this work, the vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) of a ternary hydrocarbon mixture was studied at conditions relevant to the LNG scrub column. This VLE study allows for better optimization of scrub column operating conditions and thus help preventing possible freeze-out of impurities in the main cryogenic heat exchanger used in LNG plants.
