Abstract

Research Significance

This was the launch of the Irwin St Collective, a group focussed on Historical Performance at UWA, founded by Cecilia Sun, Sara Macliver and Shaun Lee-Chen. Historical performance aims to reconstruct the musical sound world of the past through the study of surviving instructional literature and the use of period instruments.

Research Contribution

This was a concert that featured the Australian premiere of the String Trio Op. 2 No. 3 by little known 18th Century French composer Hyacinthe Jadin. The program also included Haydn's String Trio no. 44 in E major, and Mozart's Piano Quartet in G minor. All music was played on original instruments or replicas of them.
