Abstract
Human mitochondrial RNAse P is a protein complex containing three proteins MRPP1, MRPP2 and MRPP3. It is different to most RNAse P proteins due to the lack of an RNA component. While the structures of MRPP2 and MRPP3 are known, the structure of MRPP1 and the mechanism of interaction between the subunits is unknown. This study used a yeast-based system to investigate the interactions between these proteins via mutagenic screening. An area on MRPP1 was identified as a potential interaction site for MRPP2. For MRPP2, a candidate residue was identified as potentially being key for its interaction with MRPP1.
