Abstract

Family and domestic violence (FDV) is an ongoing problem. Evidence is limited regarding types of injuries that different members of a family experience as a result of FDV and which result in hospitalisation. This research using linked data shows that for mothers and children, head injuries are the most common injury, particularly concentrated on the mid and lower facial zones. Mothers with young children and those with more than one child were at increased odds of suffering an injury to the head. For children, being older (13-16) and male increased the odds of suffering an injury to the head.
