Abstract

The term cyber-physical system(CPS), referring to various critical physical systems that are managed by a particular cyber system, was first introduced in the early 2000s and has attracted the atten- tion of many research disciplines and application areas. Com- plex network science provides a new perspective for the study of large-scale cyber-physical systems; until recently these complex networked systems weremostly treated as separate networks, without incorporating the complex interactions between them. To ll this gap between theoretical complex network science and the realistic demands of CPS, this Focus Issue aims to capture state-of-the-art theoretical research in modeling and analysis of CPS from a complex network perspective and aims to motivate the need for experts fromvarious scientic disciplines to conduct more research related to CPS. In this Chaos Focus Issue, we com- bine articles with an attempt to present applications of complex network theory and methods to dierent aspects of CPS, including synchronization and control, dynamic processes, robustness and stability analysis, and real-world applications on this kind of systems.
