Abstract

This chapter introduces the scope, the approach and focus of the book, which aims to deepen our understanding of how various sub-regions and localities in the Asia-Pacific region are facing the intensifying impact of climate change. This chapter clarifies our interdisciplinary and practice-oriented approach to understanding and tackling questions around risk experience and responses. The chapter clarifies our focus on local socio-ecological zones as the main basis for analysing and responding to risks. It also provides a brief introduction to the following chapters, which capture stories about recent attempts to assess, understand, and respond to climate risks to water security in different socio-ecological zones and basins in the Asia-Pacific region.
